Equine-Assisted Learning is a learner based educational experience with horses. EAL is an effective approach to personal development that encourages individual and team growth.

Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses.

Horses are large prey animals that react to stimulus provided by participants naturally. Their feedback is honest and instant. Some of the joys associated with horses is that they CANNOT JUDGE but they constantly assess.

Learning to listen to what horses have to say is powerful and can sometimes spur the answer to individual change.

Horses can magnify an individual’s problem immediately and provide a skilled facilitator with an opportunity to identify an individual’s character. Horses don’t over-analyse a participant’s motive but they do challenge their behavior and leadership.

“I had such an incredible experience with Unbridled Equines. Theresa is such a kind, patient, and passionate instructor who is there to guide you and support you through the process. During my time, I learned so much about the importance of leadership, safe relationships within a team and between the horse and myself. I learned how incredible horses are and the trust they put in us as humans and the beauty that exists in relationship with them. I would highly recommend checking this place out and promise you will not regret it!”

“I had the opportunity to do a team building workshop for work. I had no idea of what to expect but had a fantastic evening. I learned some cool facts about horses, myself and teamwork. I would highly recommend Unbridled Equines for anyone!”

“Highly recommend this program! Theresa is an amazing teacher, mentor and the lessons my 9 year old daughter learned from her session of Be You @ The Barn have really stuck. She has gained a great deal of self confidence and leadership skills, and new found love of working with horses. Thank you Unbridled Equines!”

Programs

We offer a variety of programs suitable for groups of youth (ages 10+) and adults. We work with community organizations, schools, non-profits, women and workplace teams within our community to bring skills development to those in need.

Our horses have been a much loved part of our family for many years! They have come from a variety of backgrounds and each have their own life experiences and unique personality (much like humans).

Frequently Asked Questions

We DO NOT offer “horse therapy” as we are not mental health professionals. We do not ask about a clients history/past. Therapy generally takes place 1:1.

We offer group programs with structure and objectively driven outlines. We take clients where they are at right now in the present time and help them build the necessary skills to move forward in life! Through experiential learning with horses, clients take the learning with them forever because it is truly unforgettable.

No horse experience necessary!

We take everyone through a safety and orientation program whether you have been around horses or not. This is necessary for safety and so you understand how horses are communicating/providing feedback.

Waiver and Photo Release Forms

Anyone participating is required to fill and sign a liability release waiver prior to the start of the first session. Parents/guardians are responsible for signing for those under the age of 18. No waiver= No participation

Closed-Toe Shoes

Our horses weigh up to 1200lbs and we do not allow anyone in the arena without closed toe shoes.

Outdoor Clothing

Dress for the weather and wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dusty/dirty. We spend time grooming horses at the beginning of each program.

Helmets

Anyone under the age of 18 is required to wear a helmet for safety and insurance purposes. Bring your own from home if you’d like.

We recommend you take an anti-histamine tablet prior to attending sessions with horses if you are allergic to them. The most important part is not to touch your face/eyes with unwashed hands. We do have a hand-washing station available.
